About The Position

The Estimator position is primarily responsible for analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare quotes of products (Grilles, Registers & Diffusers, GRD’s, Fans) and all other equipment for projects. This role requires effective communication with internal and external customers, strong math aptitude, analytical skills, and proficiency in PC environment and MS Office programs. The position also involves project management and coordination, vendor communication, and providing high-quality product submittals.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Effective communication with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to read and understand specifications and blueprints.
  • Strong math aptitude and analytical skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of PC environment and MS Office programs including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Must be customer oriented and motivated with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under time constraints and strict deadlines.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers and staff to make an accurate assessment of customer needs.
  • Ability to develop customer presentations.
  • Ability to verify and calculate figures such as cost/sale and/or margins.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations required to accurately complete assigned tasks.
  • Intermediate-level knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and problem-solving skills to analyze customer problems and to recommend the proper course of action.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize job projects and requirements.
  • Regularly required to sit; use hands, handle, or feel; and required to speak, read, and hear English.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous estimating experience preferred but not necessary.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reading and understanding of Mechanical blueprints and specifications for takeoffs
  • Preparing job proposals
  • Project Management and coordination of room schedules with customers
  • Knowledgeable of all aspects of mechanical systems with ability to select proper system components as established by project engineer
  • Communicate with vendors regarding product and shipping schedules
  • Provide high quality product submittals for customer review
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects effectively
  • Other duties may be assigned
