About the position
The ESL Instructor position at American English College is a part-time, contract role focused on teaching English as a Second Language to adult learners. The instructor will create a dynamic and engaging classroom environment that meets the educational standards of the college while catering to the diverse needs of students from various backgrounds. The role requires a commitment to professional development and collaboration with a team of passionate educators.
Responsibilities
- Create a student-centered classroom environment with a communicative focus.
- Employ instructional methods appropriate for meeting learning objectives.
- Bring lessons to life with engaging, objective-driven activities.
- Recognize student needs and adjust lessons accordingly.
- Teach ESL to young adults and adults (16+) in an IEP setting.
- Conduct classes in 50 to 75-minute blocks.
Requirements
- IEP Teaching Certification
- Mid-level TESOL Certification
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience teaching adult education
- Background working with beginning ESL learners
- ESL teaching experience in an IEP setting
Nice-to-haves
- Experience teaching overseas EFL
- Ability to create engaging lesson plans
- Experience with diverse student populations
