About The Position

As an Equipment Repair Technician I, you are responsible for the disassembly, testing, troubleshooting, diagnostics, refurbishing, and reassembly of components, devices, and medical equipment. You will work independently and in teams, supporting each other to meet customer orders and quality standards. In this role, you will use a variety of hand tools, diagnostic devices, and electro-mechanical and hydraulic competencies to work in a safe and efficient manner. You will also act as backup to other production-based positions in the facility, including material handling and shipping/receiving. This role requires onsite work 5 days a week at our Indianapolis, IN location.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience (e.g. mechanical, electrical, electromechanical, hydraulics, plumbing, HVAC, and/or automotive diagnosis or repair).
  • Willing to work overtime and weekends, flexible shifts as needed.
  • Experience working in a Customer focused environment.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to read and write details about each repair including basic organizational and troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to take direction, to listen, learn, and work in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree or related certifications in technical/mechanical area, competitive equipment training or related military experience may be considered towards technical experience requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Perform fundamental troubleshooting, repairs, preventative and corrective maintenance on STERIS and competitive equipment and components in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Disassemble, replace, or repair defective parts; rewire or reassemble as required.
  • Troubleshoot, adjust/calibrate, and certify equipment ready for use using standard and specialized tools and test equipment (i.e., schematics, diagrams, technical manuals, etc.).
  • Evaluate the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of equipment.
  • Perform independently and within teams: repairs to electrical and hydraulic components, refinishing of metal and plastic parts, and wipe down, tape and prep equipment for painting/polish.
  • Use and understand torque wrenches, test equipment, and troubleshoot.
  • Maintain and perform published productivity standards on moderately challenging assemblies by utilizing work instructions, prints, schematics, and standard work.
  • Maintain and perform high quality standards (meet the departments published quality standards and overall Customer satisfaction standards).
  • Maintain safe work areas and perform safe work habits in accordance with all safety regulations, audits, and actively hold self and teammates accountable to safe working conditions including all needed and/or required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Apply and perform to 5S programs and act with a LEAN mindset to work.
  • Perform to all policies, procedures and STERIS values as trained and communicated.
