Banner Desert Medical Center/Banner Children's at Desert has 28 Operating Rooms, which includes 3 trauma rooms, 6 pediatric rooms, 1 cysto suite, 4 minimally invasive and 5 robotic rooms. BDMC/CCMC offers a full range of surgical specialties, including Peds Cardiovascular and Adult and Peds Trauma, Urology, Orthopedics, General, Gynecology, Neurology, EENT, Plastics and Robotics. We are the busiest OR in the valley, fast paced, and performing high acuity cases. In 2017, BDMC/CCMC performed over 21,000 surgeries. Our technologies includes da Vinci Xi robot, NICO, Stealth guided brain surgery. Banner Desert Medical Center is recognized by US News as High Performing Hospital in Procedure/Condition Category. With the variety of specialties and surgical procedures, high patient safety score, available work shifts, level 1 trauma designation for adult and pediatric patients, stroke center, and CORE orthopedics this is an ideal facility for those interested in a fast paced environment and room for growth. In this position, you will work with a team of doctors, nurses and technicians to help troubleshoot equipment and work alongside a team to complete cases. You will also be responsible for sterilization of equipment, assisting with inventory and assisting with any other requests that may arise during a case.

Responsibilities

  • Performs timely troubleshooting and minor repairs or facilitates major repair with designated vendors of all equipment within the department.
  • Serves as first line resource to physicians and staff for equipment troubleshooting in all department specialties.
  • Functions as part of the OR patient care team in running the cell saver, laser, image guided equipment, video and microscope.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation and databases for equipment repairs.
  • Performs safety checks on all equipment prior to patient use.
  • Proactively determines continuing education needs related to new equipment or procedures for all department staff.
  • Oversees the safe keeping of all surgical equipment to ensure physical security against loss.
  • Facilitates efficient OR room turnover by anticipating equipment needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
  • 1 year of perioperative or procedural services, biomedical, or comparable experience.
  • Effective organizational, communication and human relations skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
