About the position

The Equipment Operator I position at Sabre Industries involves the movement of raw, in-process, and finished materials during the production of utility and telecommunications products. This role is essential for ensuring efficient operations within the supply chain, requiring collaboration with various departments and adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist machine operators, welders, and other personnel in loading/unloading and transporting materials throughout the facility.
  • Accurately identify raw materials needed for production.
  • Use heavy equipment such as cranes or magnets to move steel plates and poles.
  • Coordinate incoming and outgoing parts.
  • Communicate with multiple departments regarding hardware status.
  • Move in-process and finished poles to the appropriate area in the yard.
  • Perform safety routine inspections prior to operating equipment.
  • Abide by all safety standards and policies, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent preferred.
  • At least one year of forklift driving and/or crane/heavy equipment experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read blueprints required.
  • Basic math skills required.
  • Experience with hardware coordination preferred.
  • Experience with MS Office such as Word and Excel.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and attention to detail are important.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with frequent interruptions in workflow and constantly changing priorities.
  • Clear and articulate verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and with all levels of employees, supervisors, and managers.
  • Good computer skills for record keeping and reporting are necessary.
  • Conscientious attention to and inspection of detail required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work in an open environment exposed to extreme temperatures.
  • Proven ability to operate a forklift.
  • Must be able to obtain STS Crane/Forklift Certification.
