About the position

The Equipment Automation Technician role at Flex involves maintaining and troubleshooting automation and robotic systems to ensure continuous operation. This position requires collaboration with engineers and the automation team to develop and implement solutions for system efficiency and reliability. The technician will work night shifts and is responsible for preventative maintenance, repairs, and calibrations of various systems and components.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain continuous system operation by adjusting, repairing, replacing, or modifying automation/robotic system components
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and components
  • Ensure preventative maintenance of robotic and process support equipment is completed regularly
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical diagrams
  • Collaborate with the automation team in the qualification process of automated systems
  • Assist engineers in developing and designing hardware and software for automation solutions
  • Identify machine malfunctions and isolate failure mechanisms
  • Repair failure mechanisms in a cost-effective manner
  • Perform preventive maintenance at specified intervals
  • Perform calibrations and re-qualifications on equipment
  • Assist process technicians and engineers with installation and removal of process equipment
  • Analyze and implement corrective action reports and process tracking mechanisms
  • Disassemble instruments and inspect components for defects
  • Align, repair, replace, and balance component parts and circuitry
  • Assist engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair, and evaluation plans

Requirements

  • Computer skills
  • Experience with material handling, automation, and/or robotics equipment
  • Electronic assembly skills including schematics, PCB loading, and mechanical assembly
  • Cables: crimping, harness assembly, connector/wire soldering, cable prepping
  • Testing skills: oscilloscope, cable & harness testing, troubleshooting, component testing, logic analyzer
  • Machine operations experience with automatic component insertion equipment and wave soldering
  • Mechanical and electrical tools proficiency including power air guns, taps & dies, alignment tools, and measuring tools
