About the position
The Environmentalist Specialist at Ecolab is responsible for leading environmental programs at the Clearing Manufacturing Site Plant, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as internal company policies. This role involves implementing and maintaining environmental programs, building relationships with regulatory agencies, and providing guidance to site leadership on regulatory changes and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain site level environmental programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and internal standards.
- Ensure compliance with Title V, NDPES, and Industrial Discharge Permits, as well as waste management regulations.
- Build working relationships and serve as the point of contact for regulatory agencies such as IEPA, EPA, and MWRD.
- Continually improve site-specific programs and tools/software to execute environmental requirements.
- Provide information and guidance to site leadership regarding changes to government regulations and corporate standard changes that may impact the site.
- Interact with third-party vendors regarding disposal of waste and water testing.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in a scientific or engineering discipline.
- 5-10 years of experience in environmental program implementation in an industrial manufacturing environment, preferably with air regulations.
- Extensive knowledge of federal and state environmental laws and practices (e.g., Title V, RCRA, CWA, EPCRA).
- Experience leading state regulators through audits and submitting annual regulatory reports.
- Skilled in database management, especially with access databases.
- Significant experience dealing with environmental issues in an industrial plant setting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and good interpersonal skills.
