About the position

The Environmental Specialist at Ateeca Inc. is responsible for implementing and managing the plant's environmental management system. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, promoting pollution prevention, and reducing the plant's environmental impact. The specialist will engage employees at all levels to foster a culture of environmental awareness and safety, while also overseeing training, compliance monitoring, and incident investigations related to environmental impacts.

Responsibilities

  • Engage the workforce to drive cultural change and achieve environmental performance objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and corporate systems.
  • Perform incident investigations focusing on root causes and corrective actions for environmental impacts.
  • Provide training for environmental programs such as SWP3, SPCC, and RCRA.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the safety management system and maintain continuous improvement plans.
  • Develop motivational programs to promote environmental awareness and safety.
  • Conduct industrial hygiene testing to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Review planned changes and new equipment installations for environmental impact.
  • Assist in sustaining the corporate environmental management system.
  • Collect environmental data to identify compliance issues and pollution prevention opportunities.
  • Complete and submit environmental reports in a timely manner.
  • Maintain records of chemical usage in various processes.
  • Assist with ISO14001 and 45001 EHS Management System compliance.
  • Oversee hazardous and non-hazardous waste programs.
  • Coordinate environmental testing for air emissions, wastewater, and stormwater.

Requirements

  • Degree in Environmental Science or Occupational Health and Safety required.
  • 3-5 years of working experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • ASP, CSP, or COSHO certification preferred.
  • Experience with RCRA, SWP3, PSM, Tier II, Form R, SPCC, and wastewater discharge permitting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in environmental management systems such as ISO14001 and 45001.
  • Knowledge of hazardous waste handling and compliance.

Benefits

  • Contract position with hourly pay between $30.00 - $36.00.
  • 8-hour shifts from Monday to Friday.
