Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior cleaning experience in a health care setting preferred. Other cleaning experience may be accepted.
  • Knowledge of chemicals and equipment used for cleaning in a health care setting.
  • Knowledge of safety hazards and necessary safety precautions to create a safe environment in a healthcare setting.
  • Previous laundry, housekeeping, or healthcare experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices preferred.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Certified HEALTHCARE ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES TECHNICIAN (CHEST).

Responsibilities

  • Collect, transport, and sort soiled lines in accordance with infection control and safety guidelines.
  • Properly identify and handle contaminated and isolation linens following established procedures.
  • Operate laundry equipment, including washers, dryers, and folding machines, according to department standards.
  • Utilize appropriate detergents, chemicals, and disinfectants to ensure effective cleaning and sanitation.
  • inspect linens for cleanliness, stains, and damage; remove and report items that are no longer usable.
  • Fold, package, and distribute clean linens to designated departments in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain appropriate linen inventory levels across all assigned patient care areas.
  • adhere to all infection prevention, OSHA, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Maintain Strick separation of clean and soiled linens to prevent cross contamination.
  • Ensure laundry area and equipment are clean, organized, and safe at all times.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, and supply shortages promptly.
  • Provide support to Environmental Services operations as needed.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.
