About the position
The Environmental Services Assistant at Lutheran Life Villages plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents. This position involves both housekeeping and laundry duties, ensuring that all areas of the facility are well-kept and that residents' laundry needs are met. The role emphasizes engagement with residents while performing essential cleaning and laundry tasks.
Responsibilities
- Maintain facility and resident halls in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
- Provide services associated with laundry work to meet establishment needs.
- Clean common areas, offices, employee/resident lounges, public bathrooms, and hallways.
- Dust mop and spot mop all common areas and hallways as assigned.
- Clean bathrooms, wash, sanitize, and polish bathroom fixtures.
- Maintain and refill supplies, discarding waste into proper containers.
- Vacuum lounge areas and organize magazines/reading materials.
- Damp dust and high dust all furniture, sills, ledges, and handrails.
- Monitor ceiling tiles, walls, handrails, floors, vents, and baseboards for maintenance needs.
- Wash and replace dining room table cloths.
- Make residents' beds daily and replace with clean sheets weekly.
- Clean windows and mirrors in assigned areas.
- Sweep, dust, damp/wet mop, and disinfect floors.
- Set up appropriate caution or safety signs before performing duties.
- Perform terminal/discharge cleaning as instructed.
- Transport soiled linen to the laundry room and sort it.
- Operate washer and dryer, fold clean laundry, and transport it to storage areas.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in housekeeping or environmental services is a plus.
- Ability to engage with residents and provide compassionate service.
- Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation practices.
