About the position

Environmental Scientists perform program research, planning and development, permitting, compliance monitoring, inspections/enforcement, and technical support services in relation to air, water, waste, federal facilities, corrective action, mining, biology and other environmental programs. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. This position will be responsible for assessment, inspection, and enforcement of State of Nevada and Federal regulations and Agreements at U.S. Department of Energy sites in the State of Nevada. Candidates will be responsible for review and commenting on remediation, waste and monitoring documentation. Candidates will additionally be involved in writing and enforcing hazardous waste, solid waste, mixed waste, water pollution control and safe drinking water related permits as required per State of Nevada and Federal regulations for the Nevada National Security Site. This position must obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, for which he/she will be required to undergo a comprehensive U.S. Department of Energy background investigation and participate in a State of Nevada mandatory medical monitoring program.
