About the position

The Environmental Project Manager - Utilities, Public Lands at Montrose Environmental Group is a leadership role focused on managing multiple environmental projects, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering client relationships. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and business development acumen, aimed at delivering high-quality environmental services across various sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple environmental projects and oversee project compliance with environmental policies.
  • Prepare proposals, manage budgets, and control project schedules for biological, wetland, restoration, and environmental service teams.
  • Conduct technical writing, including report writing and mitigation plan preparation.
  • Maintain positive relationships with clients and public agencies, ensuring effective communication and project updates.
  • Lead field team management and specialized site assessments as required.
  • Engage in business development activities and marketing to support company growth.
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs and contribute to team efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in environmental science, environmental studies, or a related field.
  • 7 years of professional experience in the environmental sector with increasing responsibilities; 5 years in a management role.
  • Proven experience in project management, including proposal preparation, technical writing, and client interactions.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing multiple projects and contracts simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of current environmental regulations, including CEQA and NEPA.
  • Experience with ArcGIS and GPS technologies for biological resource inventories is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience and training in specialized fields such as environmental policy or wildlife biology.
  • Ability to create and manage project tracking tools, such as Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
