About The Position

OHM Advisors is seeking an experienced individual with a passion for managing teams and strategies to restore ecosystems and build regional restoration capacity. This role is within the Environmental and Water Resources Group (EWRG) in Ohio, focusing on ecological restoration efforts. The primary focus is Northeastern Ohio, with collaboration with Columbus leadership. Growth is achieved by working with Geographic Directors, Principals, and Client Representatives for existing clients, and identifying opportunities with new clients. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, team-oriented, organized, and possess strong technical skills. They will take initiative, work with stakeholders and clients, develop strategic plans, secure funding, and ensure effective project implementation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or Ecology/Natural Resources related field required.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressively increasing responsibility experience in water resources, including managing projects and proposal writing.
  • 2+ years' experience in a Project management role.
  • A passion for growing and developing teams from infancy to maturity.
  • Familiarity with ecology-based restoration practices and NEPA environmental survey work.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic/hydrological modeling of stormwater and surface water systems.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills associated with the following programs: Microsoft Word, Excel; AutoCAD and/or Revit, Bluebeam or other PDF software.
  • Demonstrated ability to take the initiative to solve challenging problems.
  • Self-directed and ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
  • Team-oriented mindset and strong listening and collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional credentials in Ohio or Michigan are desirable (PE, Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and driving ecological restoration efforts within Ohio and potentially elsewhere.
  • Creating proposals and managing projects.
  • Building client relationships, ensuring client satisfaction, and securing follow-up EWRG services.
  • Crafting and executing regional growth and program strategies for ecological restoration and services.
  • Working closely with Geographic Directors, Principals and Client Representatives to understand local markets, client needs and communicate expertise.
  • Working closely with EWRG Practice Leaders and Technical Experts to identify growth opportunities.
  • Collaborating with clients, local organizations, watershed groups, and other regional partners to advance restoration goals.
  • Increasing regional and local capacity to implement high-value restoration and protection areas.
  • Attracting and cultivating funding and other resources to support restoration initiatives.
  • Preparing scope and acting as a project manager on studies, reports, design and construction of stormwater systems, ecological services, stream and shoreline restoration, and green infrastructure.
  • Effectively communicating project goals, alternatives, recommendations, and outcomes to project team, client and public.
  • Providing technical support and mentoring to junior engineers during project implementation.
  • Preparing and managing scope, schedule and budget for proposals and contracts.
  • Managing staff, sub consultants and expenses during project implementation.
  • Obtaining repeat work from clients, including cross-selling services. Securing environmental water resources work with existing and new clients.
  • Understanding OHM services and how they relate to client's organization and needs.
  • Anticipating project issues, including advising the client on alternatives and providing recommendations for solving issues.
  • Implementing projects from scoping to completion including overall decision-making and QA/QC.
