About the position

The Environmental Technician (Housekeeper) position is a per diem role focused on maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in patient care and non-patient care areas of the hospital. The technician will perform various cleaning tasks under the supervision of the Environmental Services Supervisor, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards while contributing to the overall patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Conducts a complete clean of patient and treatment rooms.
• Cleans offices and Nursing Stations.
• Cleans restrooms, tub rooms, utility rooms, nourishment rooms, showers, and fixtures.
• Mops and vacuums assigned areas.
• Performs terminal cleaning and cleaning of isolation rooms after patient discharge.
• Responds to all calls for their assigned areas.
• Implements the 7 step cleaning procedures.
• Uses clear, concise, professional communication with coworkers and patients.
• Acts with a sense of urgency when performing tasks.
• Maintains basic unit/department organization by keeping files and drawers free from clutter.
• Reports any equipment or environmental issues for repair.
• Abides by HIPAA regulations and escalates potential safety events if necessary.
• Completes and attends monthly training assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Two (2) years hospital EVS experience preferred.
• Critical thinking and service excellence skills.
• Good interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to follow verbal instructions.
• Basic PC (computer) skills.
• Capacity to learn and synthesize information.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with team members.
