About the position
This position is responsible for managing patient scheduling and pre-registration for outpatients, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and a hospitable environment to meet the needs of patients, physicians, and the hospital. The role includes tasks such as insurance authorization, chart preparation, and phone management, while also engaging in performance improvement activities and facilitating communication within the area of responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient scheduling and pre-registration for outpatients.
- Handle insurance authorization and chart preparation.
- Manage faxing, filing, and phone communications.
- Engage in performance improvement activities as needed.
- Serve as a communication facilitator for the area of responsibility.
Requirements
- Minimum one (1) year experience in customer service or a related field.
- Knowledge of insurance and authorization processes.
- High school graduate or equivalent; evidence of continuing education preferred.
- Proficiency in medical terminology or ability to demonstrate proficiency within six months of hire.
- Telephone experience with good phone etiquette.
- Computer skills with a typing speed of at least 45 wpm.
Nice-to-haves
- Bilingual skills in Spanish or Chinese preferred.
- Minimum one (1) year experience in a doctor's office scheduling patients or hospital registration/admitting.
