About the position

The Engineering Superintendent Drafting Technician II will collaborate with the engineering team to develop 2D drawings for naval vessels across various disciplines, including electronic, electrical, hull, and mechanical. The role involves site surveys, preparing and revising detailed drawings, and ensuring compliance with naval standards. The technician will utilize AutoCAD and other tools to create precise drawings and models, while also participating in special projects as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Work with engineering staff to develop 2D drawings for naval vessels.
  • Participate in site surveys to gather necessary information for drawing packages.
  • Prepare and revise detail and design drawings based on requirements and specifications.
  • Organize project data and perform arithmetic computations using standard formulas.
  • Collaborate with design originators to create complex designs requiring high precision.
  • Resolve anticipated manufacturing and installation problems through accurate drawings.
  • Check drawings for clarity, completeness, and compliance with standards and specifications.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant tools and equipment.
  • Participate in special projects as required.

Requirements

  • Completion of CAD instruction course or training with proficiency in AutoCAD 2013 or later.
  • Experience conducting ship checks for C4ISR system modernization efforts.
  • Knowledge of naval drawing standards, symbols, and engineering terms.
  • Ability to develop 2D installation drawings for electrical and electronic systems.
  • Technical experience with C4ISR systems, including interface protocols and military specification compliance.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years related experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two years of formal education in a technical/vocational school or equivalent.
  • Certificate in Drafting and Design/AutoCAD.
  • Naval engineering support experience.
  • 3D design capability is desired but not required.
  • Experience developing drawings for C4ISR system alterations/installations.
