About the position

The ESL Teacher is responsible for planning and providing appropriate classroom learning experiences for students, fostering an environment conducive to their intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development. The role includes supervising students, monitoring and evaluating outcomes, and communicating with various stakeholders. The teacher develops instructional plans tailored to meet diverse student needs and maintains necessary records while ensuring the proper use of educational materials and facilities.

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide appropriate classroom learning experiences for students.
• Supervise students in various school-related settings.
• Monitor and evaluate student outcomes.
• Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and the community.
• Develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to meet student needs.
• Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices.
• Monitor the appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Utilize assessment strategies aligned with curriculum and standards.
• Engage in continuous professional quality improvement.
• Implement instructional strategies that reflect students' cultures and learning styles.
• Establish a classroom management system that promotes a positive learning environment.
• Collaborate with peers, parents, and community stakeholders to improve educational experiences.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Education with appropriate subject area.
• Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator's License in a teaching content area.
• Extensive knowledge of curriculum and effective classroom instructional practices.
• Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Apps.
• Effective time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to prepare course objectives and outlines following curriculum guidelines.
• Ability to motivate and inspire students.
• Ability to maintain order and discipline in a classroom.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in a specific subject area.
