About The Position

An Engineering Technician IV provides support to the engineering and design staff by performing a variety of more complex or non-routine assignments during the installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, calibration, testing, fabrication, construction, and operation of diverse electronic/mechanical equipment and systems in accordance with engineering specifications. The position involves installing, monitoring, and servicing equipment and systems at company and client sites, assisting with test and evaluation, check-out, and certification tasks, and performing validations/verifications of various electronic systems. The role also includes reviewing engineering change proposals, assisting in accomplishing engineering change instructions, and developing technical/engineering data for planned maintenance systems, technical manuals, troubleshooting procedures, drawing updates, operation procedures, and maintainability improvements. Additionally, the Engineering Technician IV supports systems engineering activities with subject matter expertise, establishes and maintains filing systems, databases, and logs for tracking project status and inventory, and provides on-site customer interface for equipment/system installation, testing, fabrication, and other engineering tasks. The technician must comply with engineering documentation standards, engineering plans, system specifications, and test procedures, and provide technical data and evaluation for components, equipment, and systems consistent with engineering plans, layout, and contract requirements. This role also involves serving as a senior technician and assisting in the training of other technicians, supporting engineers in the development of technical proposals, and using established policies and procedures to complete assignments of moderate complexity.

Requirements

  • Vocational/technical training beyond high school from an academic institution, or military equivalent training and a minimum of seven years of job-related experience
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs
  • Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Planning/organizational skills
  • Ability to work under established deadlines
  • Must possess a valid, state issued driver's license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Install, monitor, and service equipment and systems at the company and the client sites
  • Assist with the test and evaluation, check-out, and certification tasks
  • Perform validations/verifications of various electronic systems
  • Review engineering change proposals for equipment impacts
  • Assist in accomplishing engineering change instructions
  • Develop technical/engineering data for planned maintenance systems, technical manuals, troubleshooting procedures, drawing updates, operation procedures, and maintainability improvements

  • Establish and maintain a filing system, databases, and logs for tracking project status and inventory
  • Assist in providing the on-site customer interface for equipment/system installation, testing, fabrication, and other engineering tasks

  • Provide technical data and evaluation for components, equipment, and systems consistent with engineering plans, layout, and contract requirements

  • Use established policies and procedures and subject matter knowledge to complete assignments of moderate complexity that vary in nature and sequence
  • Perform other job-related duties, as required
  • Install new cable lines, both underground and in buildings.
  • Perform maintenance on existing cables, including evaluation tests and repairing old or malfunctioning cables.
  • Cut and splice Cat 5/6 copper and fiber optic cables.
  • Locate problem areas and perform other repairs as needed.
  • Install and maintain network, public address, telephone, access control and security systems and determine solutions for any issues preventing the service from operating normally.
  • Establishes and maintains filing systems, databases, and logs as needed for tracking project status and inventory.
