About the position

The Engineering Technician - Fabrication QA1 role is focused on providing technical assistance to Manufacturing Operations and Manufacturing Engineering. This position involves supporting new product releases, machine programming, work instruction development, and process validation to ensure efficient production processes.

Responsibilities

• Program and nest components for the sheet laser to support production and engineering.
• Create or modify new and existing programs for tube bender and press brake.
• Specify and recommend the appropriate tooling for the press brake and tube bender.
• Perform and document machine set ups to support production.
• Operate equipment to prove out processes and ensure repeatability.
• Assist the New Product Development team by producing prototypes to help complete design validations.
• Assist in the release-to-manufacturing process for new products.
• Assist with direct labor studies to establish standard cycle times on operations.
• Work with the QC and Operations team on target quality improvements.
• Provide technical assistance and training for operations and develop standard operating procedures.
• Work with Maintenance and Engineering on development of TPM and Annual PM programs for assigned areas.
• Provide technical support for the purchase of equipment, upgrade of equipment and feasibility studies.
• Create and maintain work instructions and procedure documentation.
• Provide support for estimation of set-up and run times for all Fabrication processes.
• Maintain and repair existing fixtures and tooling as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Experience with fabrication processes (laser cutting, tube bending, press brake, etc.)
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting equipment
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external parties
• Ability to work in a team environment

Nice-to-haves

• Experience using SolidWorks
• Experience with Mitsubishi Laser and Press Brake Equipment
• Experience with DiamondBend and AccuCam software
