About the position

The Engineering Team Lead is a managerial role responsible for providing technical oversight and managing design teams for engineering projects. This position involves financial management, resource allocation, and logistical leadership, as well as mentoring and training staff. The role requires effective communication with project managers and the ability to resolve complex engineering problems while ensuring project compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Understand project requirements and develop design fees for requested work.
  • Prepare and oversee work plans for engineering and production resources.
  • Oversee Engineers, Designers, and Modeling staff assigned to team or project work.
  • Communicate with Project Manager or Executive regarding effort required for deliverables and project support.
  • Lead the Engineering CAC effort and interaction with the project PM.
  • Resolve complex problems such as conflicting design requirements and difficult coordination requirements.
  • Supervise project coordination with city, state, and county officials, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Attend project design meetings with the Design Build Team.
  • Conduct job site visits to review installations or assess current conditions.
  • Perform Value Engineering studies.
  • Act as Engineer of Record for projects within their responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, architectural engineering, or construction sciences from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 8 years of Engineering Experience.
  • Registration as a licensed US-based Professional Engineer (P.E.).
  • Field experience is strongly recommended.
  • Knowledge of engineering processes and calculations including load calculations, equipment layout, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Working knowledge of equipment and system testing and commissioning.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex engineering problems.
  • Management skills including work planning and resource management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel); Oracle preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.
