About the position

The Massachusetts Municipal Wholesale Electric Company (MMWEC) brings a competitive edge to Massachusetts municipal utilities. We plan, develop and manage energy resources in an evolving marketplace that requires high levels of innovation and expertise. All while remaining dedicated to providing municipal utility customers with low-cost, low carbon and reliable electricity. We are currently seeking an Engineering Supervisor. This individual will be responsible for providing technical expertise on our various generation assets and oversight of MMWEC's engineering team. Also, this position will serve as a driver on our Emerging Technologies Team and provide technical support for grid modernization, distributed generation and demand response efforts. Areas of focus will include mechanical, electrical and controls engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering and technical support for the 500+ MW Combined Cycle and Peaking power plant on property (Stony Brook Energy Center)
  • Provide technical knowledge and collaboration on all emerging technology project initiatives from inception to implementation, with a focus on demand management, grid modernization and decarburization
  • Manage Berkshire Wind Project; 20 MW wind farm with 10 turbines
  • Assist with budget oversight, capital planning and ongoing operations of various generation assets
  • Provide engineering and technical assistance; support for permitting, scheduling, specifications, bidding, bid evaluations, budget management. Also, contracts, construction, testing and commissioning
  • Assist with obtaining State and Federal grants to help incentivize and subsidize new initiatives for MMWEC
  • Serve as MMWEC representative on the NEPOOL Reliability Committees. Assist in policy and reliability evaluations effecting MMWEC generation assets and municipal utility load centers

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering Discipline required
  • 5 to 10 years of job related experience
  • Registered Professional Engineer is desirable
  • PMP Certification is desirable
  • Must be certifiable through Veriforce for pipeline operations and maintenance
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in engineering, operations, maintenance, safety, training, design, construction and quality assurance as they pertain to power plants and generation assets
  • Effective Project Management and Supervisorial Skills
  • Ability to supervise a team of contractors, consultants, and engineering staff to achieve corporate goals
  • Ability to manage finances
  • Experience with design to meet Codes requirements
  • Knowledge of ASME, ANSI, ASTM, NFPA, IEEE, NACE standards related to power generation and transmission sector a plus
