About the position

The Engineering Supervisor will respond to job assignments in repairing, installing, preventive maintenance as directed by an appropriate supervisor. Responsibilities

  • Advise immediate supervisor of conditions which might affect the operation of the Engineering Department.
  • Become thoroughly familiar with hotel's emergency procedures and perform assigned duties per hotel and departmental procedures.
  • Become familiar with current hotel conservation measures, ensure their compliance and make recommendations to supervisors on energy conservation improvements.
  • Make all necessary repairs to maintain the hotel's operations.
  • Become thoroughly familiar with all phases of operation and maintenance necessary to operate and repair all refrigeration systems, laundry, and kitchen equipment.
  • Perform all repairs, maintenance and replacement of parts for preventive maintenance schedule and accurately and neatly record all pertinent data.
  • Continually assess the preventive maintenance schedule to ensure that equipment longevity, avoidance of repairs and down time, ease of operation and efficiency are all being maximized pursuant to manufacturing recommendations.
  • Install new equipment and systems as directed.
  • Maintain tools and maintenance equipment.
  • Lead in the absence of DOE or Engineering Manager.
  • Respond to guest complaints promptly and efficiently to avoid inconvenience or discomfort.
  • Train lesser trained personnel in the operation and maintenance of all equipment/systems.
  • Ensure that all established rules, regulations, policies, and procedures are strictly adhered to.
  • Keep all controls functioning properly by testing, adjusting and calibrating in accordance with manufacturer and design engineering specifications.
  • Enforce hotel safety standards.
  • Perform other duties and handle projects as assigned by Manager.
  • Assist other departmental craft workers as required.
  • Perform all duties required as Fire Alarm Response Team.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent education required.
  • Minimum of five years hands-on experience working on major electrical, painting, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, kitchen equipment, pumps and motors repairs.
  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain any required licenses, certificates or permits.
  • EPA and Pool certification is required within 12 months of new position if not already licensed.
  • Experience in all phases of electrical, painting, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, kitchen equipment, pumps, motors and mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with and past experience using HotSOS.
  • Ability to operate office equipment such as computers.
  • Ability to communicate with hotel guests.

Nice-to-haves

  • Appropriate technical schooling would be helpful.
  • Must be able to work well with all members of the Engineering Department and all other members of the Hotel Staff.
  • Must promote a cordial and caring attitude toward all other department heads.
