About the position

Thompson Miami Beach seeks an enthusiastic Leader to join our hotel's Opening Team as Engineering Supervisor. This role will be focused on providing efficient service and meaningful experiences; you will be part of a team passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion, committed to nurturing curiosity and new skills and building connections with stakeholders, colleagues, and guests across the organization. This position reports to the hotel's Director of Rooms. The Engineering Supervisor will be responsible for shift coverage and therefore must possess strong trouble-shooting skills in all areas of maintenance in guest rooms, meeting space, and front of the house areas, as well as back of house areas including kitchen, laundry, electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems. This role will support the Engineering/Maintenance department with the overall operation, and maintenance of the facilities. This role would be responsible for guest satisfaction, working order/condition of the hotel, as well as colleague training & development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide shift coverage for the Engineering/Maintenance department.
  • Possess strong trouble-shooting skills in maintenance areas.
  • Ensure guest satisfaction and working order of the hotel.
  • Support the overall operation and maintenance of the facilities.
  • Train and develop colleagues in the department.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5-years building maintenance experience.
  • Ability to read blue prints and schematics.
  • Strong working knowledge of all major building systems, including life-safety systems.
  • Service-oriented style with professional presentation skills.
  • High energy, entrepreneurial spirit, and motivational leadership.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Clear concise written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficient in windows-based computer systems, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous hotel maintenance experience.
  • Previous hotel pre-opening experience.
  • Experience with hotel operating systems such as Opera, HotSOS.
