The Senior Structural Engineer position at KPFF Consulting Engineers involves working within the Special Projects Group in Tacoma, WA, focusing on waterfront and industrial infrastructure projects. Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering expertise to diverse waterfront and industrial infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with teams to devise innovative solutions in pile design, bulkhead walls, prestressed concrete, and seismic design.
  • Contribute to project success by assessing risks and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance throughout the project lifecycle, including understanding regulations and permitting requirements.
  • Identify and overcome challenges through innovative problem-solving approaches.
  • Manage project tasks, coordinating timelines, budgets, and resources for successful outcomes.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Mentor team members to support their professional growth and development.
  • Foster strong client relationships through active listening and clear communication.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, offering expert guidance throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of structural design experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (with a structural emphasis).
  • MS in Civil Engineering preferred (with a structural emphasis).
  • SE (Structural Engineer) license required.
  • Experience in concrete, steel, and timber design.
  • Experience in pile design and bulkhead walls.
  • Experience in prestressed concrete and seismic design.
  • Knowledge of ASCE 61-14, AASHTO, IBC, ASCE-7, AISC, ACI, and NDS standards.
  • Proficiency in SAP2000, L-Pile, MS Excel, and VBA preferred.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven capability to work dynamically in a collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for developing design and project management skills.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
