SIFCO Industries, Inc., a leading supplier to the aerospace industry located in Cleveland, OH, is seeking Engineering students to participate in our Cooperative Education program. This program offers three distinct co-op opportunities within the areas of Quality, Engineering, and Operations. As a co-op, you will be directly responsible for key projects that contribute to critical business goals in a heavy manufacturing environment. This role is designed for students who are eager to gain hands-on experience and apply their academic knowledge in a real-world setting. In this position, you will support engineering, quality, and operations in daily tasks as assigned by your supervisor. You will utilize standard continuous improvement tools to assist in the documentation of projects and execute improvement projects related to product, process, and equipment. These projects aim to mitigate safety, quality, and efficiency issues, ultimately improving key performance indicators for the business. You will have the opportunity to learn about forging, heat treatment, and non-destructive testing processes, gaining valuable experience in a regulated environment that serves the aerospace, defense, and energy sectors. Additionally, you will learn about customer specifications and requirements, develop simple cost justifications based on business data, and research technical information from common sources to summarize into business reports. Effective communication and participation in multidisciplinary teams will be essential, as you may sometimes lead these teams. You will also use industry-accepted computer analysis tools to collect and process data, partner with area supervision to create and maintain department training and Standard Work Procedures, and collaborate with Quality Engineering on compliance initiatives related to ISO, AS, and NADCAP. This role may also involve performing support duties as needed to ensure departmental goals are met, along with any other duties assigned by your supervisor.
