About the position

The Engineered Wood Products Designer at Weyerhaeuser plays a crucial role in the National Specification Team, focusing on providing design and drafting services for engineered lumber products. This fully remote position supports the company's vision by utilizing proprietary software to assist strategic partners in designing and optimizing material for structural framing applications. The role emphasizes customer interaction and innovative problem-solving in framing challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate layout drawings and material lists for engineered lumber products.
  • Utilize design tools and software applications to support the design and specification of structural frame products.
  • Produce comprehensive framing layouts for floor, roof, and wall systems.
  • Conduct design calculations for single structural members.
  • Offer design consultation to dealers, builders, contractors, inspectors, architects, engineers, and sales associates.

Requirements

  • 2-year technical degree or equivalent construction industry experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints/construction documents.
  • Wood framing construction background.
  • Working knowledge of CAD and/or estimating applications.
  • Certification in structural/architectural drafting.
  • Background in Statics, Mechanics, and Materials.
  • Previous experience as a Designer or Estimator.
