About the position

The Engineer, Power Delivery and Construction & Design Services position at FirstEnergy involves providing engineering support for the maintenance, construction, testing, and commissioning of substation equipment and transmission lines. The role encompasses various engineering opportunities, including commissioning, substation maintenance, transmission line services, and design, with a focus on ensuring the safe and reliable operation of electrical systems. Engineers will work collaboratively across multiple teams to develop project scopes, manage inspections, and support asset analytics, all while maintaining a commitment to safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Provide field engineering services and technical support for the maintenance, construction, testing, and commissioning of substation equipment up to 500kV.
• Manage inspection and maintenance programs for transmission lines and substations.
• Develop specifications and standards related to transmission line maintenance activities.
• Analyze transmission and sub-transmission systems during computer simulated disturbances.
• Create project scopes and estimates for transmission line and substation projects.
• Support the review of engineering designs, equipment, and standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
• Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain a safe workplace and educate others on technical matters.
• Willingness to travel throughout the FirstEnergy system.

Nice-to-haves

• Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) License.
• Previous utility experience.
