About The Position

The Engineer I position supports both plant utility systems and manufacturing operations by leading capital projects, improving system reliability, and providing day-to-day engineering support. This role works closely with operations, maintenance, and corporate teams to ensure utility and manufacturing systems are safe, efficient, reliable, and compliant. Projects span from utilities (refrigeration, steam, HVAC, compressed air, water) to manufacturing-based infrastructure and equipment support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Project Management preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in manufacturing, food & beverage, or industrial environments preferred
  • Knowledge of industrial utility systems and manufacturing support equipment
  • Ability to read P&IDs, drawings, and technical documentation
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Self-motivated and comfortable in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong communication skills with engineers, technicians, operators, and leadership
  • Flexible and willing to support projects, outages, and production needs
  • Professional demeanor with a positive, solution-focused mindset
  • Able to manage change and execute projects effectively

  • SAP/CMMS and AutoCAD preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead utility and manufacturing-related capital projects from concept through startup and closeout
  • Define project scope, budget, schedule, and financial justification
  • Develop scopes of work and manage contractor bidding and selection
  • Review and approve equipment specifications, layouts, and drawings
  • Coordinate installations with contractors, vendors, maintenance, and operations
  • Manage purchasing, invoicing, spare parts, and project documentation
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget
  • Support equipment startup, operator training, asset setup, and preventive maintenance
  • Complete project closeout, documentation, and compliance requirements
  • Provide engineering support to utility and manufacturing teams
  • Support facility systems including refrigeration, steam, HVAC, compressed air, water, and fire protection
  • Support manufacturing infrastructure and production-related systems as assigned
  • Identify mechanical integrity risks and coordinate repairs or improvements
  • Assist with preventive maintenance and troubleshooting for new and existing equipment
  • Drive continuous improvement, reliability, and efficiency initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, USDA, EPA, NFPA, IIAR, and company standards
  • Conduct safety audits and support risk mitigation efforts
  • Maintain accurate engineering, asset, and compliance records
  • Promote strong communication and teamwork across departments
  • Coordinate repairs and inspections with contractors and local agencies
