About the position

The Engineer will support the execution, implementation, and maintenance of the Company's electric network modeling tools, including the Distribution Management System (DMS) and Synergi Electric applications. This role involves optimizing the distribution system for safe and reliable energy delivery while maximizing clean energy resources. The Engineer will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and engage with external stakeholders to drive modernization opportunities and ensure adherence to industry best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Company's electric system operators by optimizing the distribution system using DMS functionalities such as Automatic Feeder Reconfiguration (AFR) and Load Volt/VAR Management (LVM).
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in real-time technologies including ADMS, SCADA, and DER dispatching.
  • Collaborate with system operations control centers, IT, and engineering resources to ensure DMS functionality and enhancements.
  • Support the specification and configuration of DMS advanced applications like FLISR and Load and Generation Scheduling.
  • Develop project approval documentation including need statements, scope, and budget.
  • Investigate new technologies and tools in the industry for relevance to the Company's operations.
  • Develop tools and methods to process and organize data for engineering models and databases.
  • Support multi-disciplinary teams across various engineering and operational groups for effective grid modernization implementation.
  • Communicate the Company's grid modernization initiatives externally and participate in industry forums.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
  • Minimum of three (3) years related experience in the electrical utility industry.
  • Thorough understanding of electrical engineering concepts such as load flow and voltage regulation.
  • Experience modeling electric distribution systems and manipulating large datasets.
  • Knowledge of operational technologies such as DMS, OMS, GIS, SCADA, and EMS.
  • Basic understanding of communication systems and protocols used in SCADA control systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and business development aptitude.
