About the position

CCH is expanding our staff, and this may be a great opportunity for you to join our team. CCH participates in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF). The Employment Specialist is a core component of recovery for adults with a severe mental illness. The intent of the program is to ensure that adults with a severe mental illness achieve and maintain desired community-based employment that pays at least minimum wage, while performing the same work alongside others without psychiatric disabilities, to increase self-sufficiency and decrease dependence on public systems of care. The Employment Specialist provides support and guidance to individuals to discover and enhance their strengths and ensure their success in employment positions. Assists individuals enrolled in the EBSE program, in obtaining and maintaining employment that is consistent with their vocational goals and recovery. The Employment Specialist should exhibit an ability to coach, teach and motivate others.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and guidance to individuals with severe mental illness to achieve community-based employment.
  • Assist individuals in obtaining and maintaining employment consistent with their vocational goals.
  • Coach, teach, and motivate individuals to enhance their strengths for employment success.
  • Work cooperatively with staff and others involved in the delivery of services to members and their families.
  • Engage in community outreach.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a human services field with two (2) years of related experience required.
  • Current Michigan LBSW/LLBSW required; candidates without may apply but must acquire within Michigan licensing board guidelines.
  • Michigan Certification as a Peer Support Specialist required.
  • Associate's degree preferred with at least 1-year applicable experience.
  • Experience in job seeking skills instruction, job placement, and job development in supportive and non-supportive employment settings.
  • Experience in placing individuals with special needs or multiple socioeconomic barriers.
  • Experience working with members exhibiting severe and persistent mental illness.
  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to State of Michigan driving laws with an insurable driving record.
