About The Position

NETSCOUT is seeking a dynamic and motivated early career in-house employment lawyer to join our legal team as Employment Counsel. This role will support the company’s global Human Resources department by providing practical legal counsel on a wide variety of employment-related matters, assisting with internal investigations, helping to maintain compliant employment practices and policies, and assisting the VP, Lead Employment Counsel with strategic projects. This position will be based at NetScout’s headquarters in Westford, Massachusetts and will report to the VP, Lead Employment Counsel.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and admission into at least one US state bar. Must be in good standing.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of relevant experience, preferably in a corporate setting.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Juris Degree (or equivalent work experience)

  • Experience managing complex projects.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and software.

Responsibilities

  • Provide practical, business-oriented legal advice to management and Human Resource professionals on a broad range of employment-related legal issues including hiring, termination, discipline, accommodations, and leave.
  • Assist in the drafting, reviewing, and revising of employee-related agreements, company policies and procedures to support compliance with applicable U.S. and global employment laws and regulations.
  • Support the VP, Lead Employment Counsel, HR and other internal stakeholders in connection with employee disputes and complaints, including responding to subpoenas, assisting with litigation matters, investigations, and coordination with outside counsel as needed.
  • Help ensure the company's employment practices remain compliant with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Facilitate the development of and assist in the delivery of training and guidance for HR and business partners on employment-law related topics, as needed.
  • Stay current on changes to global employment laws and regulations and work closely with VP, Lead Employment Counsel to assess and advise on potential legal impacts of proposed business changes.
  • Assist in improving programs to reduce the risk of legal violations.
  • Assist in ensuring employee data is handled in accordance with applicable privacy laws and internal policies, including supporting investigations, audits, and employment‑related data requests.
  • Participate in additional projects and areas of legal support based on department needs and the candidate’s interests and development goals.
