About the position

The Employee Relations Manager at Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) plays a crucial role in the Human Resources Division, focusing on preventing and resolving workplace issues, particularly in the areas of Title IX, performance management, and employee relations. This full-time position involves developing policies, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with regulations while fostering a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct preliminary inquiries for reported incidents related to Title IX.
  • Maintain complete records of sex- and gender-based discrimination and misconduct reports.
  • Track incidents and take remedial actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Coordinate the review and revision of institutional policies regarding Title IX.
  • Develop and maintain publications about Title IX policies and resources.
  • Coordinate campus events to promote Title IX awareness.
  • Ensure compliance with Clery Act reporting in partnership with Campus Safety.
  • Maintain a database of employee relations issues for trend analysis.
  • Administer and coordinate Workers' Compensation processes.
  • Support and counsel employees on workplace issues and advocate for them when necessary.
  • Develop and administer exit and stay interview programs and analyze data from these interviews.
  • Audit HR practices to ensure regulatory compliance and respond to public records requests.
  • Provide guidance on human resources policies and recommend revisions as needed.
  • Manage performance management processes and ensure timely completion of related documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business, or a related field.
  • 2 years of Human Resources experience, including Employee Relations, Title IX, and/or Performance Management.
  • 3 years of professional level Human Resources experience, including one year in Employee Relations/Title IX.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management.
  • Conflict-resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in diverse populations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in human resources, Business, or a related field.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification.
  • 5 years of Human Resources experience in Employee Relations.
  • Experience with Banner software.
  • Higher Education experience.
  • Experience with Louisiana State Civil Service.
