About the position

The Employee Benefits Service Account Manager is responsible for managing insurance accounts and providing day-to-day support to clients. This role serves as the primary contact between clients and insurance carriers, ensuring compliance with various regulations and facilitating the renewal process for group insurance contracts. The position requires proactive client engagement, education on compliance topics, and the ability to analyze and recommend benefit products.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a book of business comprised of fully insured clients and some self-insured clients.
  • Provide proactive, personalized support to assigned clients.
  • Act as the primary contact between clients and insurance carriers.
  • Prepare materials needed for client meetings as required.
  • Educate, advise, and aid clients on compliance topics including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, 5500s, and Health Care Reform.
  • Set up new group insurance contracts for existing or new clients.
  • Manage the renewal process including preparation of appropriate contractual changes.
  • Implement and manage programs recommended by technical resources such as wellness and communications strategies.
  • Market and place new benefit products as needed.
  • Prepare client applications for review and determine the most appropriate carriers.
  • Analyze and compare carrier quotes and coverage offerings, making recommendations to clients.
  • Develop alternative strategies, plan modeling, and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Champion client cross-selling initiatives and develop customer accounts.
  • Conduct on-site meetings to communicate or administer benefit plans.
  • Coordinate, manage, and attend client meetings both virtually and in person.
  • Develop employee communications for renewal changes, enrollment procedures, and benefit clarifications.
  • Provide resolution support and oversight for client issues such as contract clarifications and billing.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years experience in the employee benefits industry or related marketplace.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Prior customer service experience is preferred.
  • Must hold or be willing to earn a life and disability insurance license.
  • Comfortable with internet-based programs and Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to set priorities and manage deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment with minimal instruction.
  • Keep informed about industry information, technology, and trends.
  • Ability to carry out complex tasks with many concrete and abstract variables.
