About the position

The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the plan of care for a specific assigned group of patients. The North Hills Hospital staff member can expect to care for adult patients, including the older adult through geriatric, and pediatric patients from newborn through adolescence. The attached criteria based performance evaluation provides a specific set of standards as they relate to age specific competency.

Responsibilities

  • Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the plan of care for assigned patients.
  • Caring for adult patients, including older adults and pediatric patients.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of the development needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Working independently and prioritizing responsibilities.
  • Dealing tactfully with patients, families, physicians, and employees.

Requirements

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse; Texas State RN license or compact license accepted.
  • Associates Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • 2 years or more experience in ER required.
  • Certified in BLS, ACLS (upon hire) from AHA or ARC, PALS or ENPC (within 90 days of hire) and TNCC (within 1 year) required.
  • Knowledgeable of hospital policies and procedures specific to Emergency Room nursing.
  • Clinically proficient in emergency room nursing skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course or PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
