About the position

The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Coordinator at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College is responsible for managing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of EMS training programs. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with governing body certifications, fostering relationships with state certifying agencies, and enhancing student success initiatives. The coordinator will oversee the logistics of EMS training, including scheduling classes and instructors, and will play a key role in strategic planning and budget management for the EMS program.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate day-to-day operations of EMS training in accordance with department objectives.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with district customers to enhance customer experience and engagement.
  • Provide guidance and oversight in EMS strategic planning and goal setting.
  • Ensure compliance with governing body certifications and requirements for EMS training.
  • Coordinate credentialing and scheduling of EMS classes and instructors in line with standards.
  • Oversee program certification licensure between Michigan and Wisconsin and ensure annual compliance.
  • Coordinate logistics and service of EMS equipment and supplies throughout the district.
  • Research innovative EMS technology and provide budget recommendations for implementation.
  • Gather feedback from employers regarding district and agency needs through surveys or interviews.
  • Coordinate mobile EMS lab and simulation training throughout the district.
  • Serve as the primary contact for all EMS training requests.
  • Coordinate NREMT psychomotor and cognitive exams and credentialing of students through certifying agencies.
  • Participate in career exploration and recruitment events to increase awareness of EMS programs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an associate's degree in a related field.
  • Two years of related public safety or medical occupational experience.
  • Valid driver's license and insurable under district insurance policy.
  • Cultural competence and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified CPR instructor
  • Certified EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic
  • Experience working in a post-secondary environment with evidence of leadership
  • Project management experience
