About the position

The Emergency Department Technician in the Outpatient Observation Unit at Banner Gateway Medical Center is responsible for providing patient care and assisting healthcare providers with various procedures. This role is essential in a fast-paced environment, focusing on delivering excellent customer service and supporting a diverse patient population. The position requires working night shifts, including weekends and holidays, and involves a range of responsibilities from performing medical procedures to maintaining communication with healthcare teams.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned procedures under the supervision of healthcare providers, including EKG testing, vital sign measurements, and specimen collection.
  • Assist with patient exams and minor surgical procedures, such as suturing lacerations and applying orthopedic devices.
  • Monitor and report on patient conditions, documenting vital signs and procedures accurately.
  • Maintain supply stock levels and ensure a safe environment by coordinating with housekeeping and maintenance.
  • Attend department meetings and assist in training new ED Technicians.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) certification or Certified Nursing Assistant certification is required for new hires and transfers.
  • Basic computer skills and effective communication skills are necessary.
