About the position

The Emergency Communications Dispatcher position at CentraCare is responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment by operating the Emergency Communications Center (ECC). This role involves monitoring alarms, CCTV, and control systems, as well as answering both emergent and non-emergent calls for service. The Dispatcher is expected to provide efficient customer support while prioritizing emergency needs in a dynamic setting. Additionally, the position includes coordinating security and emergency responses and maintaining logs of calls for service, all while promoting a safe environment for patients, visitors, and hospital employees.

Responsibilities

• Monitor alarms, CCTV, and control systems.
• Answer emergent and non-emergent calls for service.
• Provide efficient customer support while prioritizing emergency needs.
• Coordinate security and emergency responses.
• Maintain logs of calls for service.
• Promote a safe environment for patients, visitors, and hospital employees.
• Support and implement patient safety practices.
• Demonstrate Family Centered Care principles in interactions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of emergency or high stress dispatching experience required.
• 2 years of demonstrated ability to operate radio, telephone equipment and/or console monitors required.

Nice-to-haves

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in law enforcement, Criminal Justice, Business, Psychology or Sociology preferred.
• Prior Health Care Security/EMS Dispatch Experience preferred.
• Accredited Verbal De-escalation Certification preferred.
• EMR or EMT or Paramedic Medical Certification preferred.
• ARMER Dispatcher Certification preferred.
• APCO or Other Accredited Professional Dispatch Certification preferred.
