About the position

The Elementary Teacher is responsible for guiding and directing students towards their intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth. This role involves planning and implementing instructional goals and methods, creating a conducive learning environment, and evaluating student progress. The teacher collaborates with staff and supervises assigned aides and volunteers to ensure effective educational experiences for students.

Responsibilities

  • Cooperate with staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  • Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and instructional materials.
  • Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Prepare for assigned classes and provide written evidence of preparation.
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated locations and times.
  • Encourage students to maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Develop and maintain a conducive classroom environment for effective learning.
  • Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities through necessary precautions.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media based on student needs.
  • Implement the division's philosophy of education and instructional goals.
  • Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers, evaluating their performance.
  • Maintain accurate records as required by law and policy.
  • Evaluate student progress regularly.
  • Uphold and enforce school rules and policies.
  • Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside instructional hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

Requirements

  • State certification as required by state authorities and the School Board.
  • Ability to plan and implement effective instructional strategies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and evaluate student progress.
