About the position
The School Counselor will implement a comprehensive school counseling program aimed at enhancing learner outcomes and supporting the social and emotional needs of students. This role involves collaboration with educators, families, and the community to provide effective counseling services and support the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) team. The counselor will work within a framework that promotes critical thinking, creativity, and resilience among learners, while also fostering a safe and equitable learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop positive, effective working relationships with learners and staff.
- Engage with district staff in the professional learning community process.
- Consult and collaborate with parents/guardians, educators, and community organizations.
- Create a safe and equitable classroom environment.
- Empower learners to be critical thinkers and enthusiastic learners.
- Incorporate organizational assessments and tools reflective of the school's needs.
- Develop and implement data-driven, standards-based programs.
- Maintain communication with supervisors regarding feedback and growth opportunities.
- Provide direct and indirect learner services.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in School Counseling.
- North Dakota Teaching License with School Counselor credential K-12.
- Experience working with complex learner behaviors.
- Experience in an elementary school setting is preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience as a counselor is preferred.
- Experience working in a school setting is preferred.
