About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate Elementary School Counselor to provide comprehensive counseling and support services to students in grades K–5. In this role, you will deliver individual and small-group counseling to address academic, social, emotional, and behavioral concerns, while leading classroom guidance lessons on critical topics such as social-emotional learning, conflict resolution, and bullying prevention. You will assess student needs, develop individualized counseling plans, and implement early intervention strategies to support students through transitions and challenges. Additionally, you will contribute to school-wide social-emotional learning programs and positive behavior initiatives that foster a welcoming, inclusive school environment. This position requires strong collaboration with teachers, families, and community partners to promote student success and well-being. You will communicate regularly with parents about student progress, consult with school staff and district specialists, and participate in IEP meetings and student support teams. You will also pursue ongoing professional development and fulfill documentation and record-keeping responsibilities while adhering to confidentiality and ethical standards. Your work will be essential in creating a positive school culture where every student can reach their full potential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Valid Hawaii teaching license or Emergency Hire Permit upon hire.
  • Enrollment in a Program to continue employment with the Department if hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program.
  • Satisfactorily demonstrate active pursuit towards meeting Hawaii licensing requirements each year of employment if hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program.
