About The Position

KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks a passionate physical education teacher for its elementary grade levels (K-4). The P.E./Health teacher will lead daily P.E. instruction across multiple grade levels, supplementing other core academic areas. This is a full-time position within the specials department, requiring collaboration with other specials teachers. The role involves teaching students across multiple grade levels, creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with the team, and building relationships with families. Specific responsibilities are ultimately outlined by the School Leader. The specials schedule is subject to change and can vary by school. The specials team consists of up to seven teachers per school, depending on size. Each specials teacher instructs students across multiple grade levels. Depending on the subject, the teacher may travel to classrooms or have students transition to their own classroom space. Class size is typically around 26 students, and a teacher will generally see a class about once per week in a given rotation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Equivalent (K-12 Physical Education/Health).
  • At least one year of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom.
  • Possesses a deep commitment to both racial and educational equity for all children.
  • Passing a background check, as required by law.
  • Background screening through the Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Two or more years of teaching experience highly preferred.
  • Two or more years of K-8 teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom.
  • FLDOE certification for instructional stipends.

Responsibilities
