Elementary EL Teacher

About the position

The position is for an ESL Teacher at Pine Creek Elementary School, starting in August 2025. The teacher will be responsible for providing direct English Language Development (ELD) instruction to English Learners (ELs) in grades YK-5. This includes both designated ELD settings and integrated ELD settings. The teacher will collaborate with elementary content area teachers and utilize the WIDA ELD Standards Framework to support English Learners. The role also involves contributing to grade level data review meetings, supporting student and family engagement, and implementing effective instructional routines based on current research.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct English Language Development (ELD) instruction to ELs in grades YK-5 in both designated and integrated ELD settings.
• Collaborate with elementary content area teachers to support English Learners within core classes.
• Utilize the WIDA ELD Standards Framework to incorporate English Language Development standards.
• Contribute to grade level data review meetings and Professional Learning Communities.
• Support meaningful student and family engagement opportunities for multilingual learners.
• Build upon the cultural and linguistic assets of ELs to support equitable educational opportunities.
• Implement effective instructional routines based on current research, The SIOP Model, and the WIDA Standards Framework.
• Collect, analyze, and communicate relevant data for ELs & Former ELs (FELs).
• Leverage instructional technology to support making content comprehensible and developing academic language for ELs.
• Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to support newcomer ELs and their families.
• Administer EL assessments and communicate results & implications.
• Contribute to the growth and development of the EL Program.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Valid secondary State of MI teacher certificate with an ESL (NS) endorsement or bilingual Spanish (YF) endorsement.
• Additional Elementary (ZG) endorsement required.
