This position is responsible for providing students with a variety of opportunities to learn about and enjoy art experiences as a practitioner and/or appreciator. The goal is to develop students' interest and ability in creative visual expression, using skills and techniques appropriate to their interests and abilities, to foster aesthetic understanding and appreciation, and to discover and develop artistic talents. The role involves creating standards-aligned lessons, advising students on art supplies and equipment, coordinating art instruction with staff for cross-curricular connections, and facilitating student-centered art instruction. The teacher will demonstrate various art techniques, instruct students in art appreciation and qualitative judgment, develop instructional plans, and provide individualized and small-group instruction. Responsibilities also include meeting assigned classes, maintaining a conducive learning environment, preparing lessons, encouraging student behavior standards, employing diverse instructional techniques, implementing the district's educational philosophy, protecting students and equipment, maintaining accurate records, upholding school rules, participating in faculty meetings and committees, cooperating with staff, communicating with students and parents, representing the school positively, maintaining punctual attendance, adhering to the Certified Personnel Evaluation Plan and Professional Code of Ethics, and performing other duties as assigned by supervisors.
