About the position

The Electronics Lab Specialist at Loyola University Chicago is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the engineering labs, ensuring safety standards, and supporting faculty and students with lab-related issues. This role involves managing lab equipment, conducting safety training, and maintaining software and hardware functionality for engineering courses.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, maintain, and support Combined Capstone, Computer Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering Labs.
  • Conduct monthly safety inspections of all Flex Lab and Cuneo facilities.
  • Assist with computer hardware/software issues during engineering courses and setup of lab experiments.
  • Administer annual safety training to all Engineering students.
  • Maintain orderly labs and ensure cleanliness with student cooperation.
  • Maintain and support all Engineering computers and large equipment, ensuring software functionality and correct installations.
  • Manage 3D printing and laser cutting projects for students and faculty.
  • Keep preventative maintenance schedules for all Engineering equipment and manage inventory of tools and components.
  • Maintain student outcome assessment software system for ABET Student Outcomes.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent education.
  • 5 years' experience as a laboratory technician.
  • Previous experience in networking administration and/or computer programming.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5 years experience as a laboratory technician preferred.
