About the position
The Electronic Duplicating System Technician position within the Department of Defense involves operating and managing electronic duplicating systems to produce high-quality printed materials. The role requires technical expertise in handling various printing and binding equipment, ensuring efficient production runs, and providing guidance to lower-graded operators. This position is critical for maintaining the workflow of documentation automation and production in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate a computer workstation to convert customer data into production-ready formats.
- Set up and operate large, high-speed electrostatic copier/duplicators for multiple copy production.
- Utilize bindery machines and shrink-wrap machines for finishing printed materials.
- Capture and merge data using various software packages for production purposes.
- Provide guidance and written procedures to lower-graded operators.
- Maintain records of work completed and notify supervisors of job completion.
Requirements
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level in a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe PDF software in a production environment.
- Experience operating various printing and binding equipment.
- Ability to perform minor repairs and adjustments to equipment.
- Strong customer service skills to achieve desired results.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with network software for data capture and merging.
- Knowledge of desktop publishing software packages.
