About the position

The Electronic Controls Engineer at Cascades in Pryor, Oklahoma, is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing electrical control systems specifically for pulp and paper machinery. This role emphasizes the integration and configuration of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution. The engineer will also engage with clients to deliver tailored solutions and provide technical support during system installation and commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement electrical control systems for pulp and paper machinery, focusing on DCS integration.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers, software engineers, and project managers for project execution.
  • Create and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts.
  • Program and configure PLCs and HMIs for compatibility with DCS systems.
  • Conduct testing and troubleshooting of control systems, emphasizing DCS functionality.
  • Engage with clients to understand their requirements and deliver tailored DCS solutions.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and integrate cutting-edge DCS technologies into designs.
  • Provide technical support during installation and commissioning of control systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial technology, or related field, or a vocational certificate in electronic controls/instrumentation.
  • 1-3+ years' experience as an electrical maintenance technician in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and knowledge of electrical sensors, switches, controllers, and instrumentation.
  • Programming experience with PLC and DCS control logic.
  • Ability to work with plant personnel and outside contractors effectively.
  • Strong prioritization and time management skills.
  • Self-initiative and independence to complete tasks with urgency.
