About the position

The RTX Technology Research Center (RTRC) is seeking a research engineer specializing in Applied Electromagnetics and RF circuits. This role involves working in a collaborative research environment to develop innovative solutions to complex problems, advancing concepts from early technology stages to impactful applications in aerospace and defense. The successful candidate will support ongoing programs, prepare research proposals, interact with various stakeholders, and disseminate research findings through publications and presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Support and enhance ongoing programs as an individual contributor.
  • Develop new concepts relevant to RTX business needs.
  • Prepare research proposals for external and internal funding.
  • Interact with RTX customers and collaborators in industry, academia, and government.
  • Disseminate research results through reports, conference proceedings, and peer-reviewed articles.
  • Develop intellectual property and initiate records of innovation.

Requirements

  • An advanced degree: Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or relevant field, or Master of Science with 3+ years of full-time industry experience.
  • Strong background and understanding of electromagnetic theory and RF/microwave circuits and their application in communication and sensing systems.
  • Experience with RF circuit and component design, fabrication, and testing.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in antennas, microwave metamaterials, phased-arrays, RF/microwave integrated circuits, microelectronics, remote sensing and imaging, computational electromagnetics, radar signal processing, communication and network.
  • Evidence of excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • A track record of effective teamwork, adaptability, innovation, and independence.
  • Practical knowledge of project management.
