About the position

The Electro Mechanical Service Technician I at Johnson & Johnson is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the manufacturing process of medical devices. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and organizational skills to ensure efficient and high-quality production of life-saving medical products. The technician will lead a production team, optimize processes, and collaborate with various departments to maintain compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the production team to ensure smooth and efficient manufacturing operations.
  • Coordinate production schedules, resources, and workflow to meet production targets and deadlines.
  • Monitor and optimize production processes to enhance efficiency, productivity, and product quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain to ensure seamless coordination and communication.
  • Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Train and mentor production staff providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Assist with performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members to foster continuous improvement.
  • Enforce safety protocols and maintain a safe and clean working environment for all production activities.
  • Identify and resolve production issues and address any deviations from quality standards promptly.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and lead efforts to optimize production processes and reduce waste.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to provide feedback on product design for manufacturability and scalability.
  • Responsible for communicating business-related issues or opportunities to the next management level.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical certification or associate's degree in Engineering/Manufacturing is preferred.
  • Five years operating CNC machining equipment experience (Grinding or Machine Shop department Lead).
  • 3-5 years manufacturing experience within the medical device or related industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of medical device manufacturing processes, quality control, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse workforce.
  • Proven track record of optimizing production processes and improving efficiency and productivity.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities with a proactive and results-oriented approach.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is desirable.
  • Proficient in using production and manufacturing software systems, as well as MS Office Suite familiarity with GD&T practices.
  • Ability to perform Windchill/ETQ activities including NR investigations.
  • Understand and perform complex data analysis.
  • Excellent math skills and working knowledge of metrics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with GD&T practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to perform detailed documentation.
