About the position

The Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for the repair, operation, maintenance, and calibration of electro-mechanical equipment in a manufacturing environment. This role focuses on preventative and predictive maintenance to ensure maximum equipment uptime, production quality, and safety. The technician will work with various machinery, including drive systems and automatic production equipment, and will be expected to troubleshoot and resolve electrical and mechanical issues as they arise.

Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned preventative maintenance actions according to OEM and engineering specifications, including overhauls, calibration, inspections, and cleaning.
  • Assist with troubleshooting electrical and PLC issues with equipment.
  • Respond to requests from operators, quality, or management regarding equipment specifications.
  • Read and understand electrical line drawings and ladder diagrams.
  • Repair and maintain equipment according to diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications.
  • Maintain and repair existing electrical infrastructure using drawings and blueprints.
  • Operate MIG Welder, Plasma Cutter, Torch, Jet Milling Machine, and Lathes.
  • Communicate with maintenance teammates and management regarding safety, quality, and production status at shift changes.
  • Support production staffing needs and be a reliable resource for setups, changeovers, and trials.
  • Perform frequent machine and product inspections, including troubleshooting machine issues.
  • Evaluate shifts for continuous improvement proposals and control waste.
  • Ensure facility and machine housekeeping guidelines are followed.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 or older.
  • High school diploma or GED required; Electro-Mechanical Certificate or Associate Degree preferred.
  • Previous experience with electro-mechanical maintenance in a paper industry production environment is preferred.
  • Experience using electronic testing equipment and reading blueprints and schematics is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read and understand machine manuals and preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively for production improvement.
  • Positive attitude and solid team mentality.
  • Strong work ethic with a desire to continuously improve.
  • Effective communication skills in a diverse work environment.
  • Reliable with a great attendance record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment for at least 1 year.
  • Experience in electro-mechanical maintenance for at least 1 year.
