About the position

The Electro Mechanic position at Sonoco involves supporting second shift maintenance operations, troubleshooting equipment and process issues, and performing repairs on electrical systems. The role requires collaboration with engineering teams to enhance manufacturing processes and equipment, ensuring efficient operations and minimal downtime.

Responsibilities

  • Perform support functions for second shift maintenance operations.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues.
  • Schedule work orders and projects using the enterprise asset management system.
  • Repair electrical equipment/systems and control circuits; replace faulty electrical equipment as needed.
  • Install electrical wiring and equipment; replace and repair wiring as needed.
  • Perform minor and major repairs of all buildings and equipment.
  • Maintain and repair bundlers and machine parts; make dies.
  • Assist in reducing downtime and improving quality.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience.
  • AS Degree or equivalent in Electronics, Electrical controls, or Industrial Engineering/Technology from an accredited college is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving experience with PLC ladder logic troubleshooting.
  • Excellent experience with AC/DC servo drives, stepper motors, and VFDs.
  • Configuration and programming experience is a plus.
  • Hands-on with strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens is highly desirable.
  • Excellent professional and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with advanced manufacturing engineering teams.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E standards.
